Not more than a few hundred meters from Takhat Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji Patna is Gurudwara Gobind Ghat. The gurudwara marks the place where Pandit Shiv Dutt, a devotee of Lord Rama received the Lord’s divine darshan in the form of Gobind Rai who grew up to be Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. It is also known as Kangan Ghat commemorating an incident in which Gobind Rai threw a gold bangle into the river as a message that one should keep away from material things.
Today, Gurudwara Going Ghat is a small shrine with a single room. The river has long since changed course and no longer flows near the shrine, but all who visit Patna Sahib inevitably come to this gurudwara to be enlightened with the knowledge of One God and the impermanence of the material.
