    Ghora Katora Lake is a beautiful spot near Rajgir. It is said that the horses of the kings of Rajgir used to drink water here. The shape of the lake resembles that of a horse and the lake is surrounded by mountains on three of the sides. It is located near World Peace Pagoda. Surrounded by hills, the lake looks picturesque and makes for an ideal trip. Horse carts or tongas and bicycles help tourists reach them. One can enjoy boating here. It is a very relaxing place and all one can hear is the sound of wind and water.

    At a Glance

    Ghora Katora is a picturesque lake nestled amidst the hills of Rajgir. The name means “Horse Bowl”, as it is believed that the lake served as a drinking water source for King Jarasandha’s horses. Surrounded by dense forests and rocky hills, the location is untouched by urbanization, offering a peaceful retreat.

    The lake is plastic-free, preserving its natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy boating while admiring the reflection of the hills in the clear waters. A massive Buddha statue near the lake adds to its spiritual significance, making it a must-visit destination for peace seekers and nature lovers.

    Best Time To Visit : September to April.
