Samwasaran is the place where Lord Mahavira delivered his first and last sermon – the latter lasted for 48 hours, ending on Diwali night.

Raja Nandi Vardhan got a stupa constructed to mark the spot, the ruins of which are still extant. A modern temple was constructed here in 1956. The temple is a kilometre ahead of the Jal Mandir. Photography is prohibited in the temple complex.
