Sharavani Mela, 2026: Through the Lens of an Influencer

Competition Guidelines
 

1. Introduction

(a) The Shravani Mela is scheduled to take place from July 30 to August 28, 2026. During this 30-day event, Somvari (Mondays) fall on August 3, August 10, August 17, and August 24, which hold immense religious significance in the month of Shravan. On this auspicious occasion, grand cultural programs are also organized at locations such as Sultanganj (Bhagalpur), Abarkha (Banka), and Khaira (Munger).

(b) Influencers play a vital role in promoting tourism. Through their social media followers and unique presentation styles, they work to bring a state's cultural, religious, and historical heritage to a vast audience. Videos/reels created by influencers introduce tourists to the features and attractions of the destination. The objective of the video-making competition organized by the Bihar Tourism Department on the occasion of Shravani Mela-2026 is to take the rich culture and spirituality of the Shravani Mela to the maximum number of people across the country

2. Eligibility Criteria

  • Participants must be Indian citizens and above 18 years of age.

  • The participant must have a combined total of at least 25,000 followers across social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and YouTube. Evidence regarding this must also be provided.

  • Participants must ensure that they do not share any controversial, objectionable, anti-social, or religiously hurtful content from their social media handles. The content must provide factually accurate information.

3. Competition Rules

  • Each participant can participate in the competition by creating a video/reel on the occasion of Shravani Mela-2026.

  • Each participant can submit videos related to the following categories concerning Shravani Mela.

  • Video Duration: Maximum 02 minutes and minimum 30 seconds.

  • All submitted content must be related to Shravani Mela (specifically the Kanwariya path located in Munger, Banka, and Bhagalpur). Any content not related to Shravani Mela will be deemed disqualified.

  • The participant must comply with all statutory provisions applicable to video production.

.4. Process to Participate in the Competition

  • All entries must be sent via Google Forms. The submission link will be provided on the department's official website: https://tourism.bihar.gov.in/.

  • The following information must be submitted along with the entries:

    • Name, address, date of birth, contact information (telephone, mobile number), and a valid ID proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, etc.).

    • Each video must include a title and a detailed description of a maximum of 50 words in English or Hindi

5. Video Specifications

  • The video quality must be HD, and the file size must be between 100 MB and 1 GB.

  • The video must be Geotagged.

  • Selected participants will have to provide raw footage if requested by the department.

6. Video Submission Period

  • All participants must broadcast the video on their social media channels after the first Somvari (03.08.2026) from the start of the Shravani Mela. The number of Likes received on your channel will also be included in the selection criteria at the time of evaluation.
  • Videos shot after the second Somvari (10.08.2026) must be uploaded without fail on the Tourism Department’s official website https://tourism.bihar.gov.in/ within 2 days, i.e., by 13.08.2026

7. Content Restrictions

  • The video must not contain any objectionable or controversial content.
  • The video must not feature any logos, watermarks, or other identifying marks.
  • In the event of any violation of third-party rights, the participant will be disqualified from the competition.
  • Under no circumstances shall AI be used in the submitted videos. If AI usage is detected in the video, it will be considered disqualified for selection.

8. Judging Criteria

Videos received during the competition period will be evaluated by a jury. Selected videos will be posted on the department's official social media handles and will be reviewed for 45 days post-publishing based on the following evaluation parameters:

The three criteria for rewarding participants will be:

  • Reach of the video (combining all departmental social media handles).
  • Likes received on the video (combining all departmental social media handles)
  • Number of people who shared the video (combining all departmental social media handles) (Note: For Twitter/X, retweets will be considered as shares)
  • The participant secure the highest combined numbers across all three criteria will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie between two participants, the one with the maximum reach will be declared the winner.

9. Awards and Recognition

  • First Prize: The best video by 01 participant in the first category will receive a prize of ₹3,00,000/-.
  • Second Prize: 01 participant in the second category will be awarded a prize of ₹2,00,000/-.
  • Third Prize: 01 participant in the third category will be awarded a prize of ₹1,00,000/-.
  • Fourth Prize: 02 participants in the fourth category will be awarded a prize of ₹50,000/- each.
  • Appreciation / Consolation Prize: 05 participants in the consolation category will be awarded a prize of ₹25,000/- each.

10. Usage Rights

Participants will grant the Bihar Tourism Department the right to use, reproduce, and display the videos without any additional permission or compensation. This includes global usage rights for commercial purposes.

11. Final Decision and Dispute Resolution

  • All decisions regarding the competition will be taken by the Tourism Department, and they will be final.
  • Any dispute related to the competition will be resolved by the department, and its decision will be binding
